Gordon Frisbie OK, I don't know squat. But I don't remembering "Do You Wanna Dance" as being a surf song. It is, now. And these guys would probably destroy any beach party.

about

‘It’s Just A Short Walk!’ is a limited edition EP of cover songs performed Say Sue Me on a special one-sided transparent 12” vinyl, and released by Damnably Records for RSD 2018.

1. Dreaming (Blondie)
2. Do You Wanna Dance (Bobby Freeman)
3. Beginning To See The Light (The Velvet Underground)
4. Rockaway Beach (The Ramones)

In their own words: “We had always thought about a cover album, so we agreed to make a small album aimed for release on Record Store Day 2018. In December 2017, we started the new project with a light and excited heart, as soon as we finished recording our second album.
At first, we thought about Yo La Tengo or Pavement which are our all time favorites but we decided to take the music of legendary bands from a little earlier times to cover in our style.
The first song we picked was Velvet Underground's Beginning To See The Light. It was a song suggested by Sumi. She strongly recommended this song, because she always admired Lou Reed’s self-confident attitude and genius talent. However, the other members thought it would be difficult to arrange this song, and the offer was put on hold. Finally, Byungkyu became fascinated by the song (especially the lyrics) and started arranging, and a nice cover song in a Pavement style that was satisfactory in itself was completed.
As the arrangement of this song was decided, it was suggested to set one piece of American music from each age (60's ~ 90's) and the next song we picked was The Beach Boys’ version of Do You Wanna Dance. There’re already many cover songs, but we thought this song could be the best way to express our style, and a surf-love song was completed.
The next song was Rockaway Beach by The Ramones. It seemed distant from the classic numbers that had already been decided, and when we decided to arrange a tune from the 90's, we concluded that we did not have to have a concept of a cover song for that period. As you all know, the Ramones are one of the best punk bands. We have always admired their style and wanted to make that wonderful and cute feeling.
We took quite a long time to decide on the last song. We came up with Blondie by chance and decided to cover their song, Dreaming. There are some people who come to think of Jesus & Marychain listening to our music, and we thought it would be nice to cover this song with their style. We’re pleased that it seems to have been arranged as intended.
We chose the title 'It's just a short walk!’ on this album. It took us less than a month from the idea to recording and it felt like we were reaching some place on foot. Any place where we can go by walking is always good, and we want you to hear it like that.”
